4 Steps to a Lush Lawn with Scotts 4 Step Program

Aren’t there certain yards you drive by and wonder how they got so green and lush? Parks you just have to stop to admire and take a stroll through? Believe it or not, you too can have that! And in as little as four steps! We carry the tool to get that job done.

And that tool is Scotts 4 Step lawn program. It is the most-requested annual lawn care plan because it couldn’t be easier! It shows you exactly when and how to take care of your yard to keep it healthy all year long.

Step 1 Prevents Problem Weeds

The journey to your new, improved yard should ideally begin in the off-season. The late winter into early spring is the best time to begin with step one, anytime between February and Easter. So long as the temperature is under 80F, the treatment will work. This window of time ensures that grassy weeds, such as crabgrass, don’t get the chance to germinate. Step 1 Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food works double-duty to nourish your lawn at the same time, thus helping with that dreary winter residue. For soil that needs improvement, you can apply Scotts Foundation Soil Improver during this time as well.

Step 2 Combats the Weeds You Already Have

Since Scott’s system is meant to last throughout the year, Step 2 is to be done between April and June. Late spring, near Memorial Day, is ideal, but be sure to wait at least four weeks after completing Step 1. This step is meant to be done when your yard is damp, but rain is not expected for at least 24 hours. Step 2 Weed Control Plus Lawn Food kills many broadleaf weeds like dandelions and, as always, nourishes your lawn.

Between the months of June and August, the heat can be exhausting for both us and our yards. Close to the Fourth of July is a good time to use Step 3 Lawn Food with 2% Iron. It serves as a cool glass of water, feeding and protecting your lawn from serious weather issues like drought, but it is encouraged to water your lawn after this step.

Step 3 Strengthens Your Yard Against Summer Weather Woes

Step 4 Protects Your Yard for the Coming Winter

The final step in Scotts 4 Step Program, Step 4 Fall Lawn Food, can be completed anytime from Labor Day through mid-October, but again, four to six weeks after the previous step. This last treatment will green up your lawn and protect it until next year.
